Many people around the world still struggle to get access to basic healthcare. This could be due to a lack of funds, a lack of transport getting to and from healthcare centres, or a simple lack of facilities available to them.
As a volunteer or intern, you can do the following:
- Shadow doctors and nurses in hospitals and clinics
- Learn essential medical skills, like blood sugar and blood pressure measuring
- Provide free basic healthcare services during community outreaches
You can choose the specialism of your healthcare volunteer programme depending on your field of interest. You can choose from:
- General Medicine
- Nursing
- Midwifery
- Physiotherapy
- Public Health
- Nutrition
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Dentistry
- Pharmacy
With the help of our volunteers, we provided free health screenings to over 24,250 community members at medical outreaches last year. Of these, more than 800 received malaria tests and over 1,800 received an HIV test.
