Physiotherapy Placements Abroad

Gain international physiotherapy work experience learning from skilled local staff in developing countries.

A Projects Abroad Physiotherapy internship gives you the opportunity to develop your own skills and gain international work experience in a developing country. You’ll gain insight into global physiotherapy practices and deepen your understanding of local healthcare issues.

You can complete your placement in hospital physiotherapy departments or specialised clinics for particular conditions. You can also work in care centres for children, the elderly, or those with special needs. You’ll shadow trained local professionals and observe conditions that you might not encounter back home.

These internships will be a great asset for your CV and help you to stand out from other candidates. They will also help you to prepare for your career by giving you the knowledge and experience that you’ll need.

Is a Physiotherapy placement abroad right for me?

Are you considering a career in physiotherapy? Maybe you’re a current student looking to supplement your studies with practical experience, or a recent graduate looking for a new career challenge. Our international Physiotherapy internships are suited to a wide range of different skill levels, whether you’re just starting out or have prior experience.

Many of our interns don’t have previous experience in their chosen field, so you can start at a level you’re comfortable with. Throughout your internship, you’ll be fully supported by Projects Abroad staff, as well as the healthcare professionals you’ll be working with.

These Physiotherapy work experience placements are a fantastic way to boost your CV and job or study applications. They’ll also help you to perform well in interviews.

If you’re a current physiotherapy student, we also offer Physiotherapy Electives which might suit you better. For those who are interested in a related field, you can take a look at our Occupational Therapy options. Read our full list of projects for internships abroad.

What will I gain from a Physiotherapy placement abroad?

Our Physiotherapy internships provide you with the relevant skills and experience to prepare you for the next stage of your studies or career. These international internships also give you a unique talking point during interviews.

Here are just some of the benefits of these internships:

  • Experience with diseases and conditions that might not occur in your home country
  • Soft skills such as communication, organisation, teamwork, leadership, resilience, and time-management
  • A more in-depth work experience than you might receive in your home country
  • Learning how to work and empathise with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Increased self-confidence as you push past your comfort zone

All of the above will also enhance your CV, UCAS applications, and your personal development.

Why does this internship matter?

This experience will bring you closer to a future working in your chosen field. We’re proud to support future talent who will bring vital skills to communities in need.

How are Projects Abroad’s Physiotherapy internships different?

At Projects Abroad, our first aim is to benefit the communities we work in. You can be assured that your internship is ethical, well supported, and part of a better future. Here’s just a few elements of our work that set it apart from other internship programmes:

Recording our work in a secure database

We created a Global Impact Database so we can track the positive impact our projects have. This is a secure and anonymous database that we use to identify specific areas of need. It allows us to use data to shape medical outreaches and health awareness programmes. We can also monitor individuals we see often, report our results and collect data for research. All of this work is guided by our Management Plans.

Real work with trained professionals

On our internships, you’ll work alongside real healthcare professionals. You can observe them in their everyday work, ask questions and hear more about their experiences. You’re likely to get more insights into the frontline of medical care than in your home country.

A tailored approach

We are often able to tailor your internship to your interests. You can work in more than one department or focus on one particular area, or experience outreach work in the local community.

Our Medicine & Healthcare policy
