Shadow doctors in hospitals and healthcare facilities
You’ll spend your time in the hospital observing local doctors and nurses at work in various healthcare facilities. You may also have the chance to watch surgeries being performed. This is your chance to ask lots of questions, so be sure to have your notepad and pen at the ready!
Receive Spanish language lessons from a qualified teacher at a local language centre
Your lessons will be tailored according to your skill level. During this time, you can focus on basic Spanish grammar and vocabulary, or work on your conversation.
Practice your Spanish by talking with the locals while you explore the beautiful country of Argentina
The most effective way to improve your Spanish is to surround yourself with Spanish speakers. We encourage you to speak to people you meet and practice as much as possible with your host family. If you’re at a restaurant, try ordering Cordoba’s speciality dish, Salmorejo!
Participate in group outings that explore the city and culture
With our local staff, you and your group will explore the best shopping locations, dance classes, and museums! You’ll also have the time to do some independent exploration and find your own favourite local spots.
Where will I work in Argentina?
Our Medicine Team Trip in Argentina is based in Cordoba, a historic city with plenty to explore. You’ll live here with a local host family.
Cordoba is the second-largest city in Cordoba and is located in Central Argentina. Cordoba was once under the Spanish colonial rule, and many of its historical monuments reflect that. The Jesuit Block of the city has been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. With a history that dates back to 1573, there are plenty of historical locations for you and your group to explore.
You’ll attend your Spanish classes in our office in downtown Cordoba. There, you’ll get a language evaluation, orientation, and then classes based on your initial language skill level.
Our in-country staff will be with you every step of the way as you get to know your surroundings. As soon as you get off your plane to Cordoba, until you are escorted to your departure flight, our staff will make sure that you can safely navigate the ins and outs of this historic city.
We set out the aims and objectives of our projects in documents called Management Plans. We use them to properly plan the work you’ll do. They also help us measure and evaluate our achievements and impact each year.
Ultimately, our Management Plans help us make our projects better. This in turn means you get to be part of something that makes a real impact where it’s needed. Read more about our Management Plans.
Measuring our impact
Our projects work towards clear long-term goals, with specific annual objectives. Every volunteer and intern we send to these projects helps us work towards these goals, no matter how long they spend on our projects.
Every year we take a step back and look at how much progress we've made towards these goals. We put together a Global Impact Report, which documents our achievements. Find out more about the impact our global community of volunteers, interns and staff make, and read the latest report.
Safety and staff support
Your safety and security is our prime concern. We have many procedures and systems to ensure you have the support you need to enjoy your trip with peace of mind. Our Projects Abroad staff are available 24 hours a day to help, and will be on-hand to make sure you settle in well at your accommodation and placement. If you encounter any problems, they will be available to help at any time.
