Building Volunteer Work in Africa

Doing building volunteer work in Africa is a wonderful way to interact with communities abroad, get your hands dirty, and see physical results from your work.

You don't need to have a background in construction or engineering to get involved. You'll work alongside local professionals at all of our building sites in Africa and they will teach you everything you need to know.

Our Building Projects in Africa are open to everyone, whether you're on a gap year, at university, or wanting a career break.

Is building volunteer work in Africa right for me?

Our Building Projects in Africa are structured much like those of Habitat for Humanity. You'll do work like making bricks, laying foundations, plastering, painting, and installing windows and doors at a school or a community centre. It's a great way to get actively involved in sustainable development, as you'll be providing infrastructure that the community really needs.

Materials used are often much more basic and there can be limited tools for construction. All of our Building Projects are suitable for both long and short term volunteering, and many opportunities to further get involved with the local communities, outside of the construction sites, are available to those who are interested.

Whatever skills and talents you have, volunteering on a Building Project in Africa offers a rewarding combination of the new, exciting, and life-changing, as well as the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
